Action from last year's Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Cycling Festival.

Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Cycling Festival returns to campus

The next generation of UK’s elite cyclists will once again showcase their talents in the region as the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Cycling Festival returns on Sunday 28 May.

The action-packed day will see the University campus transformed into a fast and technical circuit with some of the best riders around competing for podium places.

A festival feel will surround races incorporating the British Cycling National Youth Circuit Series alongside two senior events. Competitors will represent major national teams alongside Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s home-grown talent.

Spectators will witness first-hand riders taking on a tough criterium course that includes steep hills, numerous 90-degree turns, and rapid straights.

Dr Dave Nichols, Team Manager Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Lightning Elite Development Team and Cycling Manager Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é said: “We are proud to once again be hosting national-level bike racing on campus and inspiring the next generation competing at the National Youth Circuit Series.

“This year’s event will feature community-based activities as well as elite men’s and women’s racing, showcasing the wide-ranging development and commitment to cycling at the university.”

The event – which is free to enter for all the family – will also include cycling workshops, Wattbike competitions, various food and drink stalls, bouncy castles, and visits from the local fire and police services.
