Freefest 2016 – free annual festival celebrating student creativity returns
For the second year running, the Students’ Union has teamed up with LU Arts to bring you a weeklong festival celebrating student creativity.
Staff, students and local residents are invited onto campus to enjoy a fantastic line up of free events, including inspiring performances from a range of student societies.
Freefest kick-starts on Bank Holiday Monday with performances from student circus society Fever, Pole Fitness and LSU Breakdance. There is also a special guest appearance from Nottingham Underground Portland Pandas. Adding to the fun is a charity beer and cider festival, a student art sale and a vintage fair.
On Tuesday 3 May, LSU SING! take centre stage at the Cope Auditorium for their spring showcase at 7:30pm.
Wednesday 4 May will see a lunchtime performance from the LU Arts Music Scholarship winners at 12.30pm.
From 2-3pm there will be an event happening for this year’s Art Pass student exhibition by Chaz Howkins. During this event you can hear about Chaz’s work and experience preparing for this exhibition, followed by a presentation by artist Elly Clarke
In the evening, at 7.30pm, there will be another concert in the Cope Auditorium, this time featuring LSU Classical.
An exciting dance showcase will take over the Cope Auditorium on Friday 6 May from 7.30pm with performances from LSU Salsa, Luff Bhangra, LSU Rawkus Street Dance, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Bellydance Society and more.
On Saturday 7 May from 2-5pm you can experience the wide range of nationalities represented at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é with a range of activities and workshops to take part in during the International Showcase. And on Sunday Freefest will come to an end with a special concert by Tuxedo Swing (12.30pm).
An entire week of arts and music, Freefest 2016 is not to be missed! All events are free to attend but some do require booking.
