Speaking at the event, Jon Walker, Chair of the Donations Fund committee said: "The University is delighted to be able to support community groups across Charnwood.  It is a real pleasure to learn of the amazing projects taking place across the local area and support the great work volunteers do.  We wish everyone great success with their projects and activities."

Later in the summer the University will make awards from its Inside Out Fund and Strategic Fund.  The Inside Out Fund is dedicated to supporting members of staff at the University involved in community projects, whilst the Strategic Fund supports community activities in priority areas working with partner agencies such as Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire Police.
