Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é subjects ranked amongst the world’s elite
Eleven subject areas at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é have been rated in the top 200 in the world, according to this year's , published today (8 May).
Communication and Media Studies is Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s highest-ranked subject, coming 47th in the world.
Aeronautical Engineering and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering are rated in the top 100, while Civil and Structural Engineering, Geography, Materials Science and Sociology were ranked in the top 150. Accounting and Finance, Chemical Engineering, Education, Politics and International Studies, and Psychology were all ranked in the top 200.
David Deacon, Professor of Communication and Media Analysis and Head of the Department of Social Sciences, said: “We are delighted that Communication and Media Studies at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é has been rated so well in this international league table. It is regularly ranked very highly in the UK, so this latest result is further testament to the quality of the subject at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é.”
Now in its 3rd year, The QS World University Rankings by Subject series takes into the account the opinion of academics and employers via a global survey.
A total of 2,858 universities were evaluated, with 678 institutions in the world, and 110 in the UK, appearing in the tables. Just 65 of the UK’s universities have subjects ranked in the top 200.
