Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é leading the way on sustainable construction

Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é academic Dr Chris Goodier has been selected to chair an international conference on sustainable construction.

The event – ‘Sustainable built environment for now and the future’ – is being held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 26-27 March.  It will share findings from a three-year project, funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and the British Council, aimed at advancing and transferring the latest knowledge regarding sustainable construction.

For the project academics from Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é and Queens University Belfast have worked closely with the National University of Civil Engineering in Vietnam (NUCE Vietnam) to share their expertise and establish long-term collaborative links in education and training.

The conference will showcase the findings of the project as well as discuss the latest research taking place globally in the area of sustainable construction.

Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s School of Civil and Building Engineering is part of the largest collection of multi-disciplinary engineering schools in the UK.  It has extensive links with industry, with many of its students being sponsored by major construction organisations.

Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s Dr Goodier, who is based in the School of Civil and Building Engineering, will also be a keynote speaker at the event.  He said: “I am delighted to be chairing and taking part in such a prestigious international conference.  The British Council project has been an excellent way to share knowledge and best practice from the UK with Vietnam.  And through this event we can also share the latest knowledge with interested parties in industry, governments and academia from across the world.”
